Zabotin College Counseling will support you through the college admissions process and provide peace of mind by listening to your story, understanding your needs, and helping define your path. Together we research academic options, build your list, determine a standardized testing strategy, plan college visits, brainstorm essay topics, prepare applications, weigh your options, and select the college or university which offers the best possible fit.

Nicole Zabotin

Nicole is a dual US and French citizen, first generation American and first in her family to attend college. She graduated from the Lycee Francais de New York with a French Baccalaureate degree, earned a BA in Western European Studies from Barnard College, Columbia university, an MBA in Marketing from NYU’s Stern School of Business, and a Certificate in College Counseling from UCLA Extension.

As an independent college counselor, and as Director of College Counseling at the French American School of New York for six years, Nicole gained extensive experience supporting and advocating for students worldwide in their search for college options in the United States and internationally. She especially enjoys developing close working relationships with her students, as well as with college and university representatives in the US and abroad.

A native French speaker, Nicole is particularly adept at counseling families who are unfamiliar with the complex US college process and who can benefit from her ability to bridge cultures.

Mischa Zabotin

Mischa is a native New Yorker who attended the Lycée Français de NY, earned a BA from Columbia University, as well as Masters degrees from Columbia School International and Public Affairs and the Columbia Business School. He also holds a Certificate in College Advising from Teachers College, also at Columbia. Mischa was Treasurer and Board Chair of the French American School of NY for many years and served on the Columbia Alumni Representative Committee as an interviewer. Mischa enjoyed a 30 year career in international banking before joining Nicole’s college counseling practice.

He assists Nicole, principally with the interview prep of our students, as well as with a second set of eyes on student-written essays. Mischa’s professional experience is particularly relevant for students wishing to embark on business studies, with whom he often works to hone their understanding of the worlds of business and finance.
